Lapras ex Drop event is the first PvE event of Pokémon TCG Pocket! It's also the opportunity to get the exclusive Lapras ex card and a lot more exclusive cards and nice rewards such as Hourglasses. It is available in Battle > Solo.
We break down on how the event works, its rewards, how to beat the CPU deck at all stages and the details for each stages (decks played by the CPU and rewards)
How to obtain Lapras ex?
Lapras ex is exclusive to this event. It can be pulled from the Promo Pack A Series Volume 1 that you obtain throughout the event at a certain chance by winning against the CPU. Each pack contains a single card, out of 5 possible. These packs appear in your Gift Box tab after you obtain them.
Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1
Lapras ex is reminiscing of Articuno ex with its 140HP and 3-Energy Bubble Drain attack dealing 80 damage.
Lapras ex is not the only exclusive card to this event: you can also obtain some cards from Genetic Apex with new artworks as well as a completely new Mankey that synergizes very well with Primeape's Fight Back attack from Genetic Apex.
Opening chances:
- 12.66% for Lapras ex
- 15.82% for Butterfree
- 23.84% for Clefairy, Mankey and Pikachu
How to beat the Lapras ex event deck?
Beginner - Intermediate
At all levels, the Lapras decks played by the CPU are weak to . You're even incentivized to play such a deck in Beginner and Intermediate modes to complete challenges. For those early stages, we recommend to use the Wigglytuff ex Rental Deck that you can obtain easily by completing the 13th Guide in Battle > Guide
Try to knock out 2 of your opponent's Pokémon with either Raichu or Jolteon to confirm the challenge. Don't forget to play 3 Basic Pokémon as well, and evolve at least one of these.
Advanced - Expert
This is a more complex task to beat the CPU, especially in Expert where it plays a deck similar to the competitive Starmie ex deck. Fortunately, even if you didn't open the Pikachu pack full of good Pokémon, you can use the Lt. Surge Rental Deck, obtainable when you collect at least 1 copy of the Lt. Surge card (Pikachu pack). You can also try to obtain it with Wonder Pick or Pack Points.
The plan is similar to the Single Point Lightning deck: you attack with efficient Pokémon, with the option to prepare for a powerful Raichu play thanks to the Lt. Surge Supporter that redirects all your L Energy in play to an active Raichu, Electrode or Electabuzz. You can charge them with the Magneton's Volt Charge ability.
As for all Rental Decks, you can only use it up to ten times, so make sure to make the best plays possible to not burn through it. Of course, if you opened a lot of Pikachu packs from Genetic Apex, you can build a deck without consuming any use of a Rental deck. Take inspiration of the decks above to build yours.
How do solo events work?
You need Event Stamina to participate in event battles. Event Stamina are only consumed after you win a battle.
You start with 5 Event Stamina (the maximum possible). They recover over time at the same rate as Wonder Stamina (12 hours each) or by using Event Hourglasses or Poké Gold.
This event consists of facing a Lapras-themed CPU deck at multiple stages. For each stage, there will be first-clear rewards when you win for the first time, access to the next level of difficulty as well as a random chance for drop rewards. The progressive difficulty structure mimics the Solo mode: Beginner > Intermediate > Advanced > Expert.
You can also complete challenges to get more rewards by fulfilling specific conditions described below.
