Wigglytuff ex deck

Overview

Wigglytuff ex is currently the only C Pokémon ex in TCG Pocket. As the Energy Zone mechanic of Pokémon TCG Pocket can make splashing very hazardous, Wigglytuff ex fits well in dual-type strategies by requiring only C Energy to attack.

Its Sleepy Song attack immediately puts the opponent’s Pokémon to sleep, giving it a 50% chance of being unable to counterattack or retreat on the next turn. The only guaranteed way to cure sleep is through evolution, but with a base damage of 80 on Sleepy Song, very few non-evolved Pokémon can survive more than one hit.

This deck capitalizes on the Sleep status guaranteed by both Wigglytuff ex’s Sleepy Song and Frosmoth’s Powder Snow. With Misty, you can cheat on Energy attachments, freeing up more turns to power up the real threat—Wigglytuff ex. Sabrina can be used to trap Benched Pokémon, but a mix with Giovanni is also viable for added flexibility.

Weaknesses

  • Sleepy Song has an overpriced energy-to-damage ratio, making it one of the least efficient attacks among Pokémon ex in TCG Pocket.

  • Its overall damage output is underwhelming, especially against other evolved Pokémon ex.

  • Sleep can be cured naturally with a coin flip. Sleepy Song is highly effective 50% of the time, but the other 50%, it’s a do-nothing attack, often arriving late in the game.

  • Unlike many of its TCG iterations, Wigglytuff ex has surprisingly mediocre bulk, making it vulnerable to early knockouts.
